At -10 degrees C, it was a very cold night last night where I just couldn't get warm. Having to take painkillers at 4am and then again at 6.30am did not help either. I was feeling really queezy but after eating some porridge, I felt a lot better. Last night was not a good night for Joe either but he's feeling a lot better this morning as well.
We did the walk up Kala Pata (the brown hill in background) this morning, but not all of the team wanted to go. The sun was up but it was still very cold, however we were all wrapped up so it was fine.
Oooh, and well done to Peter who got up early and did the whole thing at 5am. Go Peter!! :)

On the way down from Kala Patta, our guide Roy was telling us that Base Camp moves every year due to a combination of glacier movement and landslides. In years to come it will actually be impossible to get there...makes us glad to have been one of the people who made it!!

After we get back we set off for Dingboche, passing Loboche. The sun is out but the wind is cold...it's like walking at home. :) As we walk down things get a bit easier.
Can you spot the bird below!?! :)
(Pictured below - a mass of frozen particles in the river...proof of how cold it is.)
We get to Loboche, but as time is of the essence, we only get to rest for 10 minutes before setting off again!!
We carry on through the valley before our climb up to reach the memorial area.
Passing this we remember the 30 minutes steep climb we had a couple of days ago and think to ourselves, how glad we are to be going downhill towards Dunghla. We stop for lunch at Dunghla, but we stay inside for this because it's really cold.

After lunch, it's a 2 hour walk back to Dingboche. Here we are walking on territory so familiar in Scotland.
It's good seeing yaks on the hills instead of sheep.
Soon we see our destination and everyone is so happy to see those familiar orange tents greeting us! Mark had walked up to meet us as he was feeling a bit better. :) We later found out that he had suffered a pulmonary oedema, which was a frightening thought as it was such a close call. We're all happy to see him recovering.
Picture below says it all really!! :)
(Pictured below is our cook making momo's for dinner...yummy!! He has very limited cooking facilities, with the one in this pictured probably being his best one...but give him credit, he can make loads of good meals to keep us going.)
Chilling!
Over dinner we hear what Marc has been up to since we last saw him and then afterwards it was pretty much an early bedtime once again...we've had a long day!!
Tomorrow we head for Namche, which is 12 miles away...and uphill. Everyone seems to be feeling a lot better now that our altitude has decreased. It's amazing the difference that just coming down the mountain makes.
