After a good send off last night with family and friends, coupled with a good night’s sleep, we are up and ready! Today is the day we have waited to happen for the past 10 months. :) Roy, myself and Team Cooper mascot Alistair McAlistair travel down from Peterborough to Terminal 4 at Heathrow airport in London all set for our great adventure.
The roads were good and it only takes one and a half hours to get there. We drop our cases off (we checked in last night online) and there was no queue, which was an added bonus! We then head for a coffee with my sister Sue, or Corinne to the family and mummy to Alistair, who kindly has brought us down.
Soon the time comes to say our good byes and to go through security…can you believe it, again no queue!?! Looks like our getting onto this plane would be nice and fast…but no…they decide to empty my rucksack!! After swabbing it and putting it through the scanner again empty, they are happy and offer to help repack…to which I kindly declined. I think they detected some rabbit or sheep poo on it; they must have thought I was trying to smuggle poop to take with me for some reason, heehee. :) Anyhow we get sorted, repack and have a look around before getting something to eat.
Leaving from gate 2 we have taken off and at present its 5pm and we are flying over Krakow in Poland. We expect to arrive in Doha at 9.33 GMT and they are 2 hours in front. Flight so far is comfortable, we are flying with Quatar airways which are meant to be one of the best, at the moment I'm thinking their service is good. Just had dinner and although we had asked for chicken, we got the vegetarian option instead and it was really good…one of the best plane meals I’ve ever had actually.
The sky is dark and the moon out, 3 hours and 45 minutes left on this flight and then approximately 7 hours from Doha to Kathmandu.
